We are looking for a talented and experienced Key Account Manager to join our very busy commercial department. The role will mostly support the customers of our Autocraft Machining Solutions facility in Wellingborough and Vertex Engineering Solutions in Birmingham.
Autocraft Solutions Group is a fast-growing business, and this Key Account Manager role will assist us to further provide innovative solutions for the global OEMs such as Jaguar Land Rover, Cox Powertrain, Perkins and Aston Martin, as both a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier.
Autocraft Machining Solutions specialises in machining of complex castings such as cylinder heads and blocks, bed plates, ladder frames, EV motor and transmission casings, and structural BIW components. Industries currently served are automotive, aviation, industrial and off-highway and marine. Vertex Engineering Solutions specialises in fixture design and manufacture, prototype machining from solid and castings, low volume and complex machined components, 5-axis machining of large and wide components, 3-axis CNC turning, manufacture of Moulds and Dies and Spark Erosion (EDM). Vertex serves a number of industries.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you’ll have access to streamlined decision making, enabling you to move rapidly with opportunities, which sets us apart from our competitors. You’ll be in regular contact with the Site Directors and other Board Directors, and this role is a unique career-progressing opportunity to learn from the inside how a successful medium-sized business operates.
Previous experience of customer management as a Tier 1 is essential, along with the commercial skills and knowledge that would be expected by our customers’ purchasing teams. Machining experience is essential, as is an engineering background as many of the enquiries from our customers will be highly technical in nature.
As a precise and exceptional communicator, you’ll be in your element in making presentations to customers, suppliers and internally. We expect you to be highly literate and numerate, and an effective written communicator with excellent record keeping skills.
Who are we looking for?:
Qualifications & Experience
- Either an engineering qualification or relevant time-served experience
- Strong background in machined components (essential!)
- Proven track-record of customer technical support within the automotive sector
- A commercially astute engineer – not a pure salesperson!
- Must be able to read and understand engineering component drawings
- Must have worked in a Tier 1 or OEM environment in a similar role, and have the ability to ‘hit the ground running’
- Highly skilled user of Microsoft Office (in particular Excel & Powerpoint), and modern digital communication platforms
- Proficient user of CAD viewing software, and CAD data exchange platforms
- Flexibility to travel and work out-of-hours when required
