Graduates, Placements & Apprentices

All of our Autocraft Solutions Group companies strive to provide a fast-paced, exciting and challenging environment. Working at Autocraft is more than just a job. Your ideas and experience are valued, and you can develop your career with us to unlock your full potential.

Why come to ASG as a graduate?

Our graduate engineers play a vital role in the business, bringing in fresh ideas and new techniques.  Alongside a team of over 40 highly experienced production and quality engineers, they work on improving current processes, developing new techniques for cleaning, processing and engine assembly, and assist us in introducing new technologies for hybrid and battery electric vehicles (HEV & BEV).

Our graduate engineers provide support to each of the 3 sites, both in the offices and factories and are mentored by our senior engineers and are assisted by fellow engineers, including our apprentices and placement students. The journey doesn’t stop at the end of the degree as we encourage and support our engineers to continue with further education and training – one of our engineers is now undertaking his PhD!

What do we offer?

  • An interesting and exciting career with opportunities for fast progression
  • Continuous development and mentoring to achieve chartered status with your chosen institution, funded by Autocraft
  • Complementary training to develop your engineering, people and business management skills through external specialist providers such as EEF and SSA & Co

Placement Students (Undergraduates)

A recent addition to the Autocraft Careers Programme, we now recruit a number of engineering placement students each year to work with us for a 12 month period or on a paid summer internship basis. We start recruiting in October of the previous year for a July starting date. Ideal for sandwich degree courses and with a competitive monthly salary, 12 month placement students are quickly introduced to the fast-paced engineering environment, putting into practice what they have learnt during their 2 or 3 years at University. Engineering Placement Students usually work on an array of projects, often from concept to completion.  And we don’t lose touch at the end of the Placement, we support our students during the final stage of their degrees with mentoring and dissertation assistance, and there’s always the opportunity to return to Autocraft on our Graduate Programme!

Our engineering apprentices have a really important part to play in the Autocraft success story. We structure our 4 year apprenticeship programmes to ensure our young people get the maximum exposure to all areas of our production. Day release at a local college compliments the 4 day ‘on-the-job’ learning, ensuring skills learnt in the classroom are put into practice in a real-time environment. The journey doesn’t stop at the end of the 4 years as our apprentices become Engineering Technicians, responsible for their own projects, whilst continuing to be supported and mentored by the senior engineers. As with any Autocraft employee, further learning, development and career progression is encouraged, the question is “how high do you want to fly?!”

“I’m in the 2nd year of my technical apprenticeship. I am studying for a HNC at college on day-release and I spend the other 4 days a week on-the-job learning. Our experienced engineering team are very supportive, and it’s great to earn while you learn!” Sam Ely, 18
